حدثنا أبو بکر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أسود بن عامر حدثنا عمارة بن زاذان حدثنا علي بن الحکم حدثنا عطا عن أبي هريرة أن النبي صلی الله عليه وسلم قال ما من رجل يحفظ علما فيکتمه إلا أتي به يوم القيامة ملجما بلجام من النار قال أبو الحسن أي القطان وحدثنا أبو حاتم حدثنا أبو الوليد حدثنا عمارة بن زاذان فذکر نحوه

سنن ابن ماجہ:جلد اول:حدیث نمبر 261 حدیث مرفوع مکررات 7

ابوبکر بن ابی شیبہ، اسود بن عامر، عمارہ بن زاذان، علی بن حکم، عطاء، حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے روایت کرتے ہیں جس شخص کے پاس کوئی علم محفوظ ہو اور وہ اسے چھپائے رکھے قیامت کے دن اسے دوزخی آگ کی لگام ڈال کر لایا جائے گا۔ دوسری سند سے بھی (بعینہ) اسی طرح کی روایت ہے۔

It wa narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet P.B.U.H said:There is no man who memorizes knowledge then conceals it, but he will be brought forth on the Day of Resurrection bridled with reins of fire," (Hasan) Another chain with similar wording.

Sunan Ibne Maja, Volume 1, Hadith 261

حدثنا موسی بن إسمعيل حدثنا حماد أخبرنا علي بن الحکم عن عطا عن أبي هريرة قال قال رسول الله صلی الله عليه وسلم من سل عن علم فکتمه ألجمه الله بلجام من نار يوم القيامة

سنن ابوداؤد:جلد سوم:حدیث نمبر 266 حدیث مرفوع مکررات 7

موسی بن اسماعیل، حماد علی بن حکم، عطاء، ابوہریرہ حضور اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے ان روایات کرتے ہیں آپ نے فرمایا کہ جس شخص سے کسی علم کے بارے میں سوال کیا گیا اور اس نے باوجود علم کے اسے چھپایا اللہ تعالیٰ قیامت میں آگ کی لگام ڈالیں گے۔

Narrated AbuHurayrah:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: He who is asked something he knows and conceals it will have a bridle of fire put on him on the Day of Resurrection.

Sunan Abu Dawood

حدثنا أحمد بن بديل بن قريش اليامي الکوفي حدثنا عبد الله بن نمير عن عمارة بن زاذان عن علي بن الحکم عن عطا عن أبي هريرة قال قال رسول الله صلی الله عليه وسلم من سل عن علم علمه ثم کتمه ألجم يوم القيامة بلجام من نار وفي الباب عن جابر وعبد الله بن عمرو قال أبو عيسی حديث أبي هريرة حديث حسن

جامع ترمذی:جلد دوم:حدیث نمبر 558 حدیث مرفوع مکررات 7

احمد بن بدیل بن قریش یامی کوفی، عبداللہ بن نمیر، عمارة بن زاذان، علی بن حکم، عطاء، حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا جس شخص سے ایسا سوال کیا گیا کہ وہ جانتا ہے اور اس نے اسے چھپایا تو قیامت کے دن اسے آگ کی لگام ڈالی جائے گی۔ اس باب میں حضرت جابر اور عبداللہ بن عمر سے بھی احادیث منقول ہیں۔ حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی حدیث حسن ہے۔

Sayyidina Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "If anyone is asked about a knowledge that he knows but conceals then, on the Day of Resurrection, he will be restrained with reins of fire."

THE SPIRITUAL MONTH OF RAJAB

1)     Go out to seek the Hilal (crescent) in your area. Upon sighting the new crescent, recite the following Du'ā as practiced by the Messenger of Allah (s)

اَللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيْ رَجَبٍ وَشَعْبَانَ، وَبَلِّغْنَا شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ، وَأَعِنَّا عَلَى الصِّيَامِ وَاْلقِيَامِ
وَحِفْظِ اللِّسَانِ، وَغَضِّ الْبَصَرِ، وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ حَظَّنَا مِنْهُ الْجُوْعَ وَالْعَطَشَ

Allāhumma bārik lanā fī Rajabin wa-Sha'bāna, waballighnā shahra Ramadāna, wa-a'innā 'alas-siyāmi walqiyām, wahifzil-lisān, waghaddil-basari, walā taj'al hazzanā minhul-ju'ū wal 'atash

O Allah! Bless us in Rajab and Sha'bāna and makes us reach the month of Ramadān. Help us [in these months] with fasting, standing [for prayers], guarding the tongue, casting down the gaze [with modesty], and do not make our [only] share in it [the experiencing of] hunger and thirst. (Ibn Tāwūs, Iqbāl p. 628; Majlisī, Bihār v.95, p.376)

2)     Try to keep awake on the 1^st night of Rajab, occupying yourself with doing tasbīh, dhikr, istighfār, recitations of Holy Qur'an, recommended Du'ās and Munājāts and reciting mustahab salāt. For those living in Europe and North America, the nights are short and can easily be spent in worshiping Allah, subHānahū wa-ta'ālā.

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Rajab is the month of istighfār (i.e. pleading for forgiveness from Allah) for my Ummah, (so) do a lot of istighfār in it for surely He is All-forgiving and All-merciful (Q, 6:54, 165)… Say in Rajab many times: Astaghfirullāh (i.e. I plead for God's forgiveness) and beseech Allah in repentance to overlook what has passed, and protection for the remainder of your lives. (Hurr al-'Āmilī, Wasā'il Hadith No. 13986)

Imam Ja'far al-Sādiq (a) said: I heard from my father, who heard from his grandfather that [Imam] 'Ali (a) loved freeing himself [for worshipping Allah] on four nights in the year: 1^st night of Rajab, 15^th night of Sha'bān, eve of [Eid] al-Fitr and eve of [Eid] al-Nahr (i.e. 10^th of Dhūl Hijjah). (al-TūsI, Misbāh 2:648; Ibn Tāwūs, Iqbāl 421)

3)     If possible, fast as many days as possible in the month of Rajab. The days are longer for Mu'minin living in Europe and North America. Allah, subHānahū wa-ta'ālā, will Insh'Allah assist all those fasting for His pleasure. Moreover, these fasts will prepare us well for the Holy month of Ramadhān.

Abū Sa'īd al-Khudrī narrates that the Messenger of Allah (s) said: Indeed Rajab is the month of Allah, Sha'bān is my month, and Ramadān is the month of my Ummah. Surely, whoever fasts a day in Rajab, he/she secures Allah's greatest pleasure. The fast of that day stifles the wrath of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and one of the gates of hell is closed for him/her.
(Ibn Tāwūs, Iqbāl, p. 634; Hurr al-'Āmilī, Wasā'il, Hadith No. 13887)

Imam Mūsā b. Ja'far al-Kāzim (a) said: Rajab is [the name of] a stream in Paradise which is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Whoever fasts one day in Rajab, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, will make him drink from that stream. (al-Sadūq, Al-Faqīh 2:92; al-Tūsī, Tahdhīb 4:306)

We pray to the Almighty Allah (swt) to grant us tawfīq to worship Him devotedly and benefit from the huge rewards that He has kept for believers in this distinguished month.

Totally unacceptable act is Shirk- (Part 1 of 3)

Absolutely unforgivable Sin is "Shirk"

False deities have no power to harm or benefit

Ash-Shirk ul-Akbar takes one outside the fold of Islam. The opposite of Tawhid is expressed by the Arabic term Shirk (polytheism) derived from the root Sh-r-k which conveys the notion of "sharing" or "partnerships." The word Sharik (plural shurakaa) means "partner" or "associate." It encompasses far more than the more blatant (obvious) forms of idolatry and denial of Allah's Unity. The term Shirk means associating partners with Allah, and the related term mushrik is applied to someone guilty of such polytheistic association. Some examples of Shirk ad Du'a (invoking or supplicating to a false deity besides Allah are given. False deities have no power, Allah has all powers.

اَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰہِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ ۔ بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

قُلْ اَتَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰہِ مَا لَا یَمْلِکُ لَکُمْ ضَرًا وَّلَا نَفْعًا ط وَاللّٰہُ ھُوَ السَّمِیْعُ الْعَلِیْمُ
( سُوْرَۃُ الْمَآءِدَۃِ ۷۶/۵)

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا تم اللہ کے سوا ان کی عبادت کرتے ہو جو نہ تمہارے کسی نقصان کے مالک ہیں نہ کسی نفع کے ٗ اللہ تعالیٰ ہی خوب سننے اور پوری طرح جاننے والا ہے

1) Say( O Mohammed to mankind) How do you worship besides Allah something which has no power either to harm or benefit you", (Surah Al-Maidah 5/76)

وَلَا تَدْعُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰہِ مَالَایَنْفَعُکَ وَلَا یَضُرُّکَ ج فَاِنْ فَعَلْتَ فَاِنَّکَ اِذًا مِّنَ الظّٰلِمِیْنَ
سُوْرَۃُ یُوْنُسَ ۱۰۶/ ۱۰

اور اللہ کو چھوڑ کر کسی ایسی چیز کی عبادت مت کرنا جو تجھ کو نہ کوئی نفع پہنچاسکے اور نہ کوئی ضرر پہنچاسکے ٗ پھر اگر ایسا کیا تو تم اس حالت میں ظالموں میں سے ہوجاؤگے

2) And do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you, for if you did, then indeed you would be of the wrongdoers.' (Surah Yunus 10/106)

وَاِنْ یَّمْسَسْکَ اللّٰہُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا کَاشِفَ لَہُٓ اِلَّا ھُوَ ط وَاِنْ یَّمْسَسْکَ بِخَیْرٍ فَہُوَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیْ ءٍ قَدِیْرٌ
(سُوْرَۃُ الْاَنْعَامِ ۱۷/۶)

اور اگر تجھ کو اللہ کوئی تکلیف پہنچائے تو اس کا دور کرنے والا سوا اللہ تعالیٰ کے اور کوئی نہیں ٗ اور اگر تجھ کو اللہ تعالیٰ کوئی نفع پہنچائے تو وہ ہر چیز پر پوری قدرت رکھتا ہے

3) And if Allah should touch you with adversity (hardship), there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good – then He is over all things competent. (Surah Al-Anam 6/17)

قُلْ اَنَدْعُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰہِ مَا لَا یَنْفَعُنَا وَلَا یَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلٰٓی اَعْقَابِنَا بَعْدَ اِذْ ھَدٰنَا سُوْرَۃُ الْاَنْعَامِ۷۱/۶) اللّٰہُ

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا ہم اللہ تعالیٰ کے سوا ایسی چیز کو پکاریں کہ نہ وہ ہم کو نفع پہنچائے اور نہ ہم کو نقصان پہنچائے اور کیا ہم الٹے پھر جائیں اس کے بعد کہ ہم کو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ہدایت کردی ہے

4) Say, "Shall we invoke instead of Allah that which neither benefits us nor harms us and be turned back on our heels after Allah has guided us?( Surah Al-Anam 6/71)

حدثنا يحيی بن أيوب وقتيبة يعني ابن سعيد وابن حجر قالوا حدثنا إسمعيل هو ابن جعفر عن العلا عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة أن رسول الله صلی الله عليه وسلم قال إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عنه عمله إلا من ثلاثة إلا من صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعو له

صحیح مسلم:جلد دوم:حدیث نمبر 1730 حدیث مرفوع مکررات 6 متفق علیہ 1 بدون مکرر

یحیی بن ایوب، قتیبہ، ابن حجر، اسماعیل بن جعفر، العلاء، حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا جب انسان مر جاتا ہے تو تین اعمال کے علاوہ تمام اعمال منقطع ہو جاتے ہیں صدقہ جاریہ یا وہ علم جس سے نفع اٹھایا جائے یا نیک اولاد جو اس کے لیے دعا کرتی رہے۔

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased).

Sahih Muslim, Voulme 2, Hadith No. 1730

حدثنا إسمعيل بن أبي کريمة الحراني حدثنا محمد بن سلمة عن أبي عبد الرحيم حدثني زيد بن أبي أنيسة عن زيد بن أسلم عن عبد الله بن أبي قتادة عن أبيه قال قال رسول الله صلی الله عليه وسلم خير ما يخلف الرجل من بعده ثلاث ولد صالح يدعو له وصدقة تجري يبلغه أجرها وعلم يعمل به من بعده قال أبو الحسن وحدثنا أبو حاتم حدثنا محمد بن يزيد بن سنان الرهاوي حدثنا يزيد بن سنان يعني أباه حدثني زيد بن أبي أنيسة عن فليح بن سليمان عن زيد بن أسلم عن عبد الله بن أبي قتادة عن أبيه سمعت رسول الله صلی الله عليه وسلم فذکر نحوه

سنن ابن ماجہ:جلد اول:حدیث نمبر 241 حدیث مرفوع مکررات 6

اسماعیل بن ابی کریمة حرانی، محمد بن سلمہ، ابوعبدالرحیم، زید بن ابی انیسہ، زید بن اسلم، عبداللہ بن ابی قتادہ، حضرت قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا آدمی اپنے پیچھے (دنیا میں) جو چھوڑ جائے اس میں بہترین چیزیں تین ہیں (1) نیک اولاد جو اس کے لیے دعائے خیر کرتی رہے۔ (2) صدقہ جاریہ جس کا اجر اس کو ملتا رہے۔ (3) علم جس پر اس کے بعد عمل ہوتا رہے۔ حضرت قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے ایک اور سند سے بھی (بعینہ اسی مفہوم کا) یہ مضمون منقول کیا گیا ہے۔

'Abdulldh bin Abi Qatâdah narrated that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'The best things that a man can leave behind are three: A righteous son who will pray for him, ongoing charity whose reward will reach him, and knowledge which is acted upon after his death.'" (Hasan) Another chain with similar meaning.

Sunan Ibne Maja, Volume 1, Hadith No. 241
