(•۝• ѴƲ cℓʋв •۝•) Khushu in Prayer !!

As'salaamu Alaikum,

It is narrated from Abu Dharr [RA] that the Prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said:

"Allah [SWT] turns to and pays attention to the slave of Allah when he is praying, and He continues to pay attention as long as the slave of Allah does not turn away/look away in his prayer. So when he turns his face away during prayer, Allah leaves and abandons him."

[Reported by Nasa'i and Imam Ahmad]

Vocabulary from the Hadith

مُقْبِل (muqbil) – the one who gives attention to something, draws close to something; see below.
يَلْتَفِت (yaltafit) – to turn around, to look around.
‏ صَرَفَ(sarafa) – to turn away.
‏ انْصَرَفَ عَنْ(insarafa an) – to give up something, to abandon something.
Lessons from the Hadith

Sh. Salih Al Fawzan says "The scholars say that turning away in salah is of two types:
1) The turning away of the heart from Allah. This happens when the person praying starts to think about the dunya and things related to it and his attention branches away from Allah.
2) The wandering of eyes right and left, instead of the eyes being fixed at the place of sujood as prescribed."
- The word "وَجْه" means face, but it also represents the person itself. So, turning the face away (فَإِذَا صَرَفَ وَجْهَهُ) includes both turning away of the heart (by wandering of thoughts) and also turning away of the face (by wandering of eyes). WAllahu alam.

Allah Hafiz.
