حدثنا هدبة بن خالد أبو خالد حدثنا همام حدثنا قتادة حدثنا أنس بن مالک عن أبي موسیٰ الأشعري عن النبي صلی الله عليه وسلم قال مثل الذي يقرأ القرآن کالأترجة طعمها طيب وريحها طيب والذي لا يقرأ القرآن کالتمرة طعمها طيب ولا ريح لها ومثل الفاجر الذي يقرأ القرآن کمثل الريحانة ريحها طيب وطعمها مر ومثل الفاجر الذي لا يقرأ القرآن کمثل الحنظلة طعمها مر ولا ريح لها

 ہدبہ بن خالد، ابوخالد، ہمام، قتادہ، انس، ابوموسی سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ قرآن پڑھنے والے مومن کی مثال سنگترہ کی سی ہے کہ اس کا مزہ بھی عمدہ اور خوشبوبھی عمدہ، اور قرآن نہ پڑھنے والے کی مثال اس کھجور کی طرح ہے جس کا مزہ تو اچھا ہے لیکن خوشبو نہیں اور اس فاسق کی مثال جو قرآن پڑھتا ہے گل ریحان کی طرح ہے کہ اس کی خوشبو اچھی ہے اور مزہ کچھ نہیں اور اس فاسق کی مثال جو قرآن نہیں پڑھتا اندرائن کے پھل کی سی ہے، جس کا مزہ بھی کڑوا ہے اور بو بھی خراب۔

Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari: 

The Prophet said, "The example of him (a believer) who recites the Qur'an is like that of a citron which tastes good and smells good. And he (a believer) who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date which is good in taste but has no smell. And the example of a dissolute wicked person who recites the Qur'an is like the Raihana (sweet basil) which smells good but tastes bitter. And the example of a dissolute wicked person who does not recite the Qur'an is like the colocynth which tastes bitter and has no smell.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Hadith No. 12

حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد وأبو کامل الجحدري کلاهما عن أبي عوانة قال قتيبة حدثنا أبو عوانة عن قتادة عن أنس عن أبي موسی الأشعري قال قال رسول الله صلی الله عليه وسلم مثل المؤمن الذي يقرأ القرآن مثل الأترجة ريحها طيب وطعمها طيب ومثل المؤمن الذي لا يقرأ القرآن مثل التمرة لا ريح لها وطعمها حلو ومثل المنافق الذي يقرأ القرآن مثل الريحانة ريحها طيب وطعمها مر ومثل المنافق الذي لا يقرأ القرآن کمثل الحنظلة ليس لها ريح وطعمها مر

 قتیبہ بن سعید، ابوکامل جحدری، ابوعوانہ، قتادہ، انس، حضرت ابوموسی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اشعری سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا : مومن کے قرآن مجید پڑھنے کی مثال ترنج کی طرح ہے کہ اس کی خوشبو پاکیزہ اور ذائقہ خوشگوار ہے اور قرآن مجید نہ پڑھنے والے مومن کی مثال اس کھجور کی طرح ہے کہ جس میں خوشبو نہیں لیکن اس کا ذائقہ میٹھا ہے اور منافق کے قرآن پڑھنے کی مثال ریحان کی طرح ہے کہ اس کی خوشبو تو اچھی ہے اور اس کا ذائقہ کڑوا ہے اور منافق کے قرآن نہ پڑھنے کی مثال حنظلہ کی طرح ہے کہ جس میں خوشبو نہیں اور اس کا ذائقہ کڑوا ہے۔

Abu Musa al-Ash'ari reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: A believer who recites the Qur'an is like an orange whose fragrance is sweet and whose taste is sweet; a believer who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date which has no fragrance but has a sweet taste; and the hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is like a basil whose fragrance is sweet, but whose taste is bitter; and a hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'an is like the colocynth which has no fragrance and has a bitter taste.
