"Hadith Garden" - Inspirations

Narrated Usamah ibn Zayd (RadhiAllahu 'anhu):

The client of Usamah ibn Zayd said that he went along with Usamah to Wadi al-Qura in pursuit of his camels. He would fast on monday and thursday.

His client said to him: Why do you fast on monday and thursday, while you are an old man?

Usamah ibn Zayd (RadhiAllahu 'anhu) said: The Prophet of Allah ï·º used to fast on monday and thursday.

When he ﷺ was asked about it, he ﷺ said:

The works of the servants (of Allah) are presented (to Allah) on monday and thursday.

Abu Huraim (RadhiAllahu 'anhu) reported,

Allah's Messenger ï·º as saying:
The deeds of people would be presented every week on two days, viz. monday and thursday, and every believing servant would be granted

pardon except the one in whose (heart) there is rancour against his brother and it would be said: Leave them and put them off until they are

turned to reconciliation.

[Sahih Muslim - Book 032, Hadith 6224]

`Abdullah bin As-Sa'ib (RadhiAllahu 'anhu) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) used to perform four Rak`ah prayer after the declining of the sun before Zuhr prayer and

would say, "This is an hour at which the gates of heaven are opened, and I like that my good deeds should rise to heaven at that time.''

[At-Tirmidhi]

Commentary:

The Prophet ï·º used to perform the four Rak`ah Sunnah of Zuhr prayer when the sun started declining. In fact, except for `Isha' prayer, he would perform every Salat at its early hours.

The phrase "the gates of heaven are opened'' to means that the good deeds that people do are lifted to heavens at that time.

[Riyad-us-Saliheen Hadith No: 1117]

Narrated Anas (RadhiAllahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said:

"If anyone of you feels drowsy while praying, he should sleep till he understands what he is saying (reciting)."

Narrated Abu Darda (RadhiAllahu 'anhu):

Kathir ibn Qays (RadhiAllahu 'anhu) said, I was sitting with Abu Darda (RadhiAllahu 'anhu) in the mosque of Damascus. A man came to him and

said, Abu Darda, I have come to you from the town of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ for a tradition that I have heard you relate from the Apostle of

Allah ï·º. I have come for no other purpose. He said: I heard the Apostle of Allah ï·º say:

"If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their

wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask

forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learned man over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the

rest of the stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who

takes it takes an abundant portion."

[Abu Dawud - Book 25, Hadith 3634]
